CATERING

Focus on Undernutrition has developed a unique catering course for care homes. This six-module course on menu planning and special diets, incorporates workshop learning, practical learning developing recipes linked to a special diet and coursework.

The training can be delivered either face to face or online, and as standalone modules, such as fortified diets, or dysphagia and altered consistency diets, rather than the full session catering course. Please contact us for more details.

The training covers:

  1. Menu planning and nutritional and hydration needs of older people in care homes
  2. Diabetic diets for older people
  3. Fortified diets for undernutrition
  4. Altered consistency diets according to
    IDDSI dysphagia standards
  5. Finger foods menus in dementia
  6. High fibre diets and constipation

CARER AND FAMILY SUPPORT

Focus on Undernutrition has developed a range of practical recipe videos and resources to help families and carers to adapt meals and drinks for loved ones requiring certain special diets.

This training is delivered through video on demand with downloadable resources. Please contact us for more details.

The training is in two specific areas:

  • Fortified diets, how to adapt diets to aid weight gain if someone is experiencing a poor appetite
  • Pureed diets (level 4), how to adapt dishes to be suitable for someone on a pureed diet, including recipes on biscuits, cakes, sandwiches and other snacks.
